A tamer passionvine than many others but it certainly does not lack for vigor.
An exceptionally free flowering passionvine, Lady Lavender produces " wide, lightly fragrant flowers with purple sepals and petals that fade to near white near their base. The flowers are topped by a corona of blue filaments that fade to white and then darken to deep burgundy at their base. Lady Lavender Passionflower is a sterile Patrick Worley cultivar considered to be hardy to near 10 o F.
It is large and vigorous enough to cover a medium to large trellis easily in one season or it can be enjoyed as a container plant where not hardy. Provide a full to mostly sunny location and a moderately fertile soil with average drainage for the best flowering. The fragrant pendant flowers of the Rosy Passionfruit are composed of green reflexed petals and sepals lightly to heavily speckled with burgundy and a large corona of deep purple filaments and the flowers are subtended by light green bracts that will create a balloon like effect when they enclose ripening fruit.
The seeds of the round ripened fruit are surrounded by grape-flavored flesh. The Rosy Passionfruit is a tropical naturally evergreen tendrilled vine that may be best grown on a pergola or arbor where the dangling fragrant flowers can enjoyed throughout the growing season. The large deep purplish red petals of Ruby Glow Passionflower are topped with a halo of deep bluish purple filaments. A heady sweet fragrance fills the air when this beautiful passionvine is in flower and it may produce very large, up to 3"W x 5"L, yellow tropical fruit if the flowers are cross pollinated by another species, cultivar, or seedling passionflower. Ruby Glow is a vigorous growing, heat loving tropical vine that can reach 20'H under good conditions.
The extra large, up to 5" wide, long lasting flowers of the Star of Surbiton Passion Flower are composed of pure white petals and sepals that are topped with a large corona of contrasting deep purple, white, and light pink filaments. A hybrid bred by Myles Irvine of the UK, this Passionvine is moderately vigorous and exceptionally free flowering and is considered to be basically evergreen down to about 18 o F or into zone 8B.
Provide a winter mulch where marginally hardy or enjoy this free flowering, lightly fragrant vine as a container plant or annual where not hardy. May produce yellow ripening to orange tangy fruit if cross-pollinated.
