How many gun salute for queens birthday
There will be no gun salutes to mark the Queen's 94th birthday on Tuesday because of the coronavirus outbreak. A Buckingham Palace official said the monarch had decided it would not be appropriate at this time. It is believed to be the first time in her year reign that there will be no such salute, which usually take place at Hyde Park and the Tower of London. The Trooping the Colour parade in June to mark the Queen's official birthday has already been cancelled. That announcement came after the government introduced restrictions in the UK which required people to stay at home.
It had been claimed even before Philip's death that the queen hadn't wanted her birthday to be marked in a meaningful way because she wanted to focus instead on the Duke of Edinburgh's th birthday, which he would have celebrated on June The Queen's birthday parade, Trooping the Colour, was scheduled for 12 June but in March was cancelled for the second consecutive year due to the global health crisis.
Before Prince Philip passed away, Buckingham Palace had instead been considering a smaller event like the "mini Trooping", which was held at Windsor Castle last year, led by the Welsh Guards and massed Bands of the Household Division, but it is now unclear if those plans will still go ahead.
